  3. <hi style=afpcap>A Marine Corps requirement for a Light Armed reconnaissance aircraft (LARA) was put to competition, with North American being the winning design with their NA-300. In military service the type was designated the OV-10A Bronco, with the Air Force showing interest in the possibility of acquiring a number to perform the counter insurgency role. Production orders were placed in 1967 and 1968 for a total of 157 for the Air Force. The Bronco was ideally suited for the war in Vietnam with 126 being sent to the region for armed forward air control duties. The aircraft also served with the Air Force in Europe for a number of years.  </hi>
